All of our courses are designed to help train you, your friends & family in your outdoor experience and awareness.

We offer courses which can be tailored to suit the individual needs and abilities of clients, so whether you’re new to climbing, hiking and walking or you’re an experienced walker looking to take the next step in their skill set by learning new trails, we can help.

Basic Navigation

Aimed for beginners who enjoy walking but want to feel more confident at navigations. Learning the basic route planning tactics, map reading and basic compass use.

Next Step Navigation

Following  from Basic Navigation, covering more in-depth scenarios such as poor visibility, bad conditions and emergency procedures. 

2 Day Advanced Navigation

Designed for those looking for a refresher course prior to assessments. This covers all grounds including emergency procedures, timing and night navigation.

Expedition Week

Aimed for all levels of skill. This five day course will train you from planning to emergency procedures. Understanding and reading maps, compasses and keys. You’ll learn hands on under multiple scenarios. 

Bronze & Silver National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS)

 Training follows the NNAS syllabus and will be delivered to suit the needs of the group or individual.  This course will be conducted in Brecon Beacons National Park.

Gold National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS)

A structured syllabus that takes place in Brecon Beacons National Park. Start at beginners level or pick up from Bronze or Silver to obtain the Gold Navigation Award.

Hills Skills Accredited Course

The key to getting started in the countryside and moorland walking. Held in the Brecon Beacons, this syllabus focuses on hill planning and route assessment, weather knowledge and more.

Mountain Training Accredited Course

Moving from the marked paths, on to steeper, rockier terrain in order to learn a different style of navigation, risk assessments and mountain environment knowledge.

Typically we offer these courses throughout the Brecon Beacons, and areas of Snowdonia, however many times location may depend on weather & conditions. 

Our Hill Skills course is considerd to be slightly more relaxed, keeping at a slower pace and planning movement along calmer terrain.

Whereas our Mountain Training will require steering away from the marked paths and venturing to the steeper rockier terrain, experiencing more crtiical and fast decision making processes.

You’ll never have to start at one course and work your way up.

Each course can be produced for an individual or group of people at any skill level. 

However keep in mind, the beginner navigation courses are designed to allow for more time in teaching aspects such as map reading, compass use and critical planning time. The more advanced courses and navigational experiences will require more work, so be prepared.
